Welcome Back!
We hope you all had a wonderful break and a good start to your new year. You never know what to expect from anyone on the first day of school after a long break, so we were pleasantly surprised that all of the kids seemed well rested and happy to be back on the first day. They were all so excited to share about their break that we dedicated much of our morning circle time to taking turns listening to each other’s stories. Yesterday, we also had reviews on respect of the studio to get the kids back into the swing of things, and today they had a full work cycle. Carrie also gave a fun lesson on grinding colored chalk into salt in order to change the color of the salt. Many kids enjoyed trying this experiment out during the work cycle.
Angelique gave a lesson on the new year, first demonstrating the year 2013 passing by using a globe, a representation of a sun, and imagery of the seasons and months that have passed. We talked about how the process begins all over again and how many people make goals to start off their new year. At the end of the day, the kids drew pictures of their plans for the new year and then they took turns explaining their art during a circle time.
Just a reminder that during these colder days, we especially encourage you to bring in some slippers for your children to wear during the work cycle. Soft fuzzy slipper socks that your child can fit over regular socks would also be acceptable.
Below are some photos of today’s work cycle. Have a great weekend. And thank you to all of you who thought of us during the holidays. We truly appreciate the gifts. It means a lot to us!
Sincerely,
Angelique & Carrie
Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great holiday.
Thanks, Carrie! Same to you 🙂
